Why am I doing a 24 hr urine test in early pregnancy???

When I went to the Dr on Tuesday they sent me to the lab and they informed me I was doing a 24 hr urine catch. I am only 5-6 weeks pregnant and all I can find about this is to test for pre eclampsia. Well Isn't that only in late pregnancy? My Sis n law had borderline hypertension and she had to do one around 7 months. Has any one else had to do this in early pregnancy?

it was probably to get your base line, so that if you do have issues later in pregnancy they will have numbers to base it off of.  If they know and protein shows up later sometimes its nothing as long as they know what is normal for you.  I had to do one for this very reason.  Dont worry, I look at it as its better to be safe than sorry.

Not that I know of. My BP was 132/86 Which is a little high for me I guess, I do have tachycardia and take meds for that. Does that also cause protein in the urine?

What was your bp like? It's a bit odd really did you have protein in your urine at the doctors?
