Worried...

I've spent the last few days with a friend, first while she was in the emergency room for pain and bruising in her arm and then went out of town with her as support when she had to take her daughter to visit her ex husband...well she just called me to let me know the pain is from shingles...I'm going to call my dr tomorrow but I'm pretty worried

It is poosible to get them, but you dont catch them. Virus is in your system from chicken pox as a kid. Once you get them, it is easier to get them again. If your immune system is low or you are very stressed they can appear. Baby is ok. If you have them when you baby is born, then bab can get chicken pox which is very dangerous. Doc can give meds if they pop up. It is very painful, feels like something burning in a small area then blisters pop up in same area, only on one side of your body. You can check with doc if it will make you feel better, but usually wont give you meds unless you have them. Hope this helped.

I think you should call you're doc just to make sure  ........cuz I work with doc for 12 hours nd they will not let us n the room with them ppl its a reason so just to be careful call your doc or you can call the e.r nurse they will tell you what to do

So I think I'm ok. I had the vaccine when I was younger and never got chicken pox

You cant catch shingles, but someone who has never had chicken pox (babies, young kids) can catch chicken pox. I am 29 Weeks & have had them  twice with this pregnancy already, very painful :(

I would not wait to call! You need to inform your doctor right away! Shingles and pregnancy doesn't mix! Not only are you at risk but your baby! Even if you have to call the answering service to let the doctor know and find out what you need to do! With each contact you grew even more risk of contracting it!

Please keep us posted what your doctor says!

Is really contagious period....anybody can pick it up from someone Exp older people who've had chicken pox...and pregnant people because our immune system is really low

O wow yeah you need to call your doc asap.... I work n a hospital nd they keep us from around ppl that have them..... ( pregnant people)
