Your not suppose too. It is passed thru breast milk so baby will be getting all the nastys in cigs.
If you want to smoke dont breastfeed, change to formula milk, but as they say breast is best
I've talked to the lady that assists me with WIC, even though I don't smoke. And what she said makes sense. Her personal opinion on the matter is that, even if you do smoke, It's recommended to still breast feed. Because even though you're taking in the bad things from the cigarettes, the baby is still getting amazing nutrients that it wouldn't get if you bottle feed. It's your decision, in the end though. Many people feel very differently than this, and that's okay. I would say that you just shouldn't smoke. But looking at it from the baby's angle and seeing all the benefits he/she will get from it, I would breast feed either way.

I agree with the lady above that no matter way you decide about smoking breastfeeding will still be important. Studies have shown that the residue left on your hands, face, an clothing are almost as harmful as second hand smoke so you hold will need the antibodies and immunity that you can pass to them. Please try to stop. I quit four years ago I just happened to fin out I was Pregnant right after New Years and was trying to give up smoking. I used Chantax for two weeks but stopped when I found out I was pregnant. See if any kinds of cessation aides could be used while breastfeeding such as nicotine gum. That way you can wean off the cigarettes while not exposing your baby to the chemicals in the smoke. I know how hard it is and I had to try a lot before I made it. People who haver been there shouldn't judge. Nicotine is as hard to kick as illegal drugs and there is no center to check in too and no detox. Just try and make it through the first two weeks however you can. Candy, gum, chewin pencils, periodically strangling somebody whatever it takes ;D you can do it!!!!
Thank you it is very hard and I hate being judges I know I'm doing wrong but I'm trying I guess I'm just not trying as hard as I can I really want to breast feed this time since I wasn't able to last time. Thanks ladies:)
My mom told me she used to smoke and breast feed me.. all she did was pump bottles of milk and freeze them before she smoked.. she said it takes 4 to 6 he's for your body to flush out all the bad stuff.. like if you drink or smoke pump your breast before you do and wait 6 hrs before breast feeding again
