Would like opinions from women who've been through this

Greetings, I recently took a home pregnancy test on Tuesday 8/30 and it came out positive. I was a bit shocked because I had just gotten my period 8/23. I did have unprotected sex quite a few times during the month of July/August. My period was seemingly normal. A little shorter than usual. It normally last 4-6 days but it ended on the 3rd day which was a Friday. Usually the PMS symptoms disappear 2 days into period. However, I noticed that my breast were extremely tender and I had weird pelvic pressure. Nothing like cramps. I started secreting a clear sticky discharge and I felt like my pelvis was a little heavy feeling. So I took the test expecting it to disprove what I thought was my mind playing tricks. It came out positive (First Response Digital)! I took another test today 9/2 it came out negative (first response not digital) I did go to the doctor. My labs have been drawn. I have to wait this long weekend to get results either Tuesday or Wednesday! What are the chances that this was a chemical pregnancy? Also I has been feeling tender breasts on and off for 2 months not as PMS but just randomly. Could I really be pregnant? Need some advice to get me through the LONG weekend.

I would try taking another first response early response with first morning urine. To make sure you get enough urine on it, you can catch your urine in a cup and hold the stick in it for about 10 seconds, then lay it flat. See what that says!

Thank you for your response!  I personally am not a huge fan of First Response.. I know some women don't like the blue dye tests..but they are reliable if read within the allotted time... during all my pregnancies, I've never had a positive result with the red dye...I know every test has it's flaws, but you never know if there's an underlying reaction trigger (or lack there of) depending on other chemicals and proteins produced by each individual pregnant woman that may or may not affect the results.. try a Clear Blue Easy.... :)

I do not qualify for state assistance because I exceed the income limit...but...hello... I am supporting 5 people by myself... no child support either... but I'm sure if I do end up pregnant after all, I may be able to get Pregnant womens Medicaid services or whatever it's called...

Oh, I forgot to add that I was so convinced that I'm pregnant and wanted to see if those Intelligender Predictor things worked or not... expecting a "GIRL" result if I was not pregnant seeing how if it says "BOY" it must be detecting some sort of "Y" Chromosome, which clearly women do not possess... so I did the test TWICE...and both times it said "BOY"... but also researching like I've been doing, women have received the wrong results with them,...so who knows anymore... it sure was fun tho...lol...felt like a Chemist..

I took my first test at night. After holding my pee in for 2 hours. It was a first response digital test.

I took my second test with my morning urine. I don't think I peed enough on it though. That and I was still half asleep and I'm sure I missed the stick. That was a negative and it was the first response traditional test.

Hi Jenna, I took the first response test. One digital (positive) the other just the normal lined test (negative). I'm 23 and this would be my first pregnancy.

And wow! It's so crazy that your test have come out positive but the doctors test have been negative! I can feel your frustration! I wish you nothing but luck! You've been through this before being that you have 3 children. I'm sure you know your body better than anyone. There must be something to the feelings and positives you've been having. Why don't you qualify for state help?

What time of the day did you test with each one?

It sounds like what you thought was your period COULD have been implantation bleeding.  There are so many variables though that it's really impossible to say with any amount of certainty whether it's a viable pregnancy, chemical pregnancy or what.

Hopefully this long weekend will go by fast and you will have some answers.

Hi Brenda!

I would like to say that I am also going thru the same thing you are!!! (sorta)... First I would like to let it be known that YOU CAN experience PMS and menstruation during stages or during your entire pregnancy. Do you have any children now? What type of HPT did you take? I have 3 children myself...10, 9 & 7 years old. ...but...BUT...I had a tubal ligation in 2004, have been "feeling" pregnant since about June...but I had my normal very short periods that were coming later than usual..knowing that my tubes were demolished, I have been very doubtful about all of this...also have been OBSESSED about finding out whats going on with my body...I'm 28, how old are you? Anyways, so I took a few HPT's...very faint positives on the Clear Blue sticks...while still having pregnancy symptoms...period is due around the 25th of every month, got June's on the 28th I believe, only lasted 48 hours or so, I never bleed heavy or for long..still feeling pregnant, got another faint positive, so I went to the E.R...feeling like a butthole telling them that I got a positive result, yet their test said no...the did blood work...came back negative..sent me home :( ..July rolls around...period arrives on the 30th..48hrs long...STILL feeling pregnant...SOOOOOO TIRED, my nose is going nuts... boobs are bigger...very faint positives still, but only with clear blue easy tests...so weird...so I go back to the E.R...(chose a different one tho, didn't wanna look stupid twice) after I had a very definite positive clear blue test..I took pictures of it so that when I got there and tested negative on their urine test, I could show them that I'm not nuts..seeing how I am a single mother of three children and supporting my brother, I cannot fit health insurance into my budget right now, (no state help either) , so I explained that I had no insurance, but would pay my bill monthly...anywho...he took a urine sample and sent me home... damnit... I am feeling like I'm losing my mind....so August rolls around, no period...testing faintly positive still...but am thinking that it has to be all in my head, why would I still have these "periods" and negative blood test back in June...so....on the 31st of August, I got a really dark positive on my Clear Blue test...keep in mind I have taken tests every other day since June...this is getting pricey, but I know something is wrong...headaches all thru out the day...EXTREMEf fatigue, sensitive to smells, sorta moody..not bad tho...just not tolerant of moreons...lol...anywho...once I had my employees confirm that this was the darkest line so far, I called an OBGYN and begged to be seen immediately..I have had a tubal, and a tilted uterus, I'm high risk for ectopic or miscarriage...so they got me in..I took the test I peed on with me, because I knew they were going to tell me that I came up negative, and surely, thats exactly what happened...so I showed my test to them and explained that the SAME exact **** happened with my daughter and one son...only showed faintly on HPT's so they had to order a sonogram to confirm my pregnancy..anywho...I had a pelvic exam, which the Dr. didn't say anything except for wanting blood work done... Yesterday I started bleeding lightly and had the WORST cramps for about 35 minutes..then just bled lightly the rest of the day until now... I figure its because of the harsh pelvic exam, or it's that so called "period" of mine arriving later and later..So I took another test in the morning and it faintly said +... I was discouraged because I thought maybe I had a miscarriage, but I never seen any tissue or clots..then I took the second test around 1:30pm and it was dark positive again like the one that made me go to the OBGYN...WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! I immediately went and purchased two different brands..Answer & First Response...they were negative a few hours after my Clear blue positive...I honestly don't know what else to do...I've been studying forums from pregnant women that have periods and also ones that never test positive in a Dr.'s office...but I don't understand if I am pregnant, I would be about 11 weeks or 12 weeks...how is this possible if I've had a tubal ligation 8 years ago, still lightly bleeding every month, and Dr.s can't get a positive result on their urine test? What am I pregnant with Jesus? Lol...the odds are so far against me, but why do I feel pregnant? I even feel small movement, gas too, but both at the same time...I have a fetal heart doppler but can't find a heart beat ...also could be because of my tilted uterus...but I'm going crazy...I can't demand an ultra sound, and don't have the money for one...I have an order for lab work, surely the HCG just HAS to be strong enough by now to be detected in my blood right?

I believe that you are indeed PREGNANT!!! The chances of a false negative are way more considerable than a false positive... you may have had more fluid intake that had diluted the concentrate of your urine with the second test...what I found works for me is NOT using first morning urine... I have strong positives around 1pm..thats holding my pee for a few hours and not intaking much liquid... try that tomorrow...email me and let me know what happens!! Also, clear blue easy tests are wonderful... my email address is ***@****

I will pray for you...but I honestly think you are blessed with a bundle of joy, he/she is just being shy :)
