Try to avoid large, super filling meals. Small, frequent meals can lessen the severity. Also, small sips of water can help. Just avoid drinking a lot of water all we once when its acting up. As for Tums, I have to take 2 extra strength tablets when my heartburn gets really bad. It's the only thing that works. But for me this is a last resort when I just can't take it anymore. I hate taking anything while pregnant.
I had heartburn really bad at the beginning until about 9 weeks, it went away and came back by 12 weeks.. it was horrible i couldnt eat anything especially dairy products or meat. Tums were a joke to me and now i am 22 weeks with off and on heartburn.
I took tums, it hasn't helped much yet, but I ate a pickle so that probably wasn't the smartest decision :X, my OB said if I still had a problem with it tomorrow he'd write me a prescription for something, but I'd rather stick it out I really dont like taking anything unnecessary while pregnant!
I normally have on and off acid reflux.. so when I got pregnant the nausea and heart burn was so bad it made me sick allllll the time my acid reflux was through the roof.. my ob said it was safe to take my prilosec so I started taking it and it's helped majorly.. I still get it once and a while but tums helps that.
Lol I feel ya. Tums are my best friend though lol. Its usually only on and off now. Hope yours eases up! Its annoying. Lol
Unfortunately heartburn is possible at any time during pregnancy. It has been a problem for me for the entire time I've been pregnant and was a problem during my whole last pregnancy as well. Fingers crossed this won't be you. Good luck.
Ughh I NEVER get heartburn, ever, so it has to be pregnancy related, I can't believe it's come this soon though, just when i say I don't feel pregnant, it bites me in the butt! :(
I'm 13w Wednesday and that's exactly when mine was the worst lol its eased up now. Hopefully yours does too!
i had it that early n its normal for anytime in pregnancy,
i take tums but always ask ur OB first
