Induction stories??

Tomorrow is the day I will finally be induced at 42+1!! :) I'm so ready and excited to meet my princess, but also nervous because I have no idea what to expect. Just curious to hear some of your stories. Also, I'm already dilated to 1.5cm and 80% effaced since Wednesday, so will they just put medicine in my IV?

With my daughter I went to the hospital twice a week for stress tests because they were worried about her weight (low) which idk why because ism very tiny myself. Went in for one and they admitted me. They were going to give me a pill (inserted vaginaly) to start me to dilate then induce me the next morning. So they did the pill which I forgot its name an that pretty much kick started my labor.  My mucus plug and water broke all naturally and my labor was not long at all. Dilated 1 to 10 from 3pm to 9pm and pushed her out 15 min after 9. I did get the epidural. But with my son I was dilated at 2 for 1 and half weeks. I live almost 40 min away from hospital and with how quick my first child was we decided to induce and I went in at 7am and they did the pitocin and  that immediately started to work.  I was at 3 and because contractions were so strong they recommended the epidural. Said it would take about 15 min and if I was just gonna do that not to get the meds thru Iv. So I agreed. Well during those 15 min I went from 3 to 10 and pushed baby out after 5 pushes. That time wa a lot more painful hence no meds but bareable. But everyone is different and such but that is my story :)

Congrats I hope its a good experience for you :) The pitocin in your iv will make you contract stronger, which will help you dilate more, and with my first, they inserted a dissolvable pill up there. Then when you dilate even more, they will break your water then youll dilate more and can get your epidural after that. If I end up getting induced again id wait longer after water breaking for epidural, because the epidural slows down your dilation

Throughout my whole pregnancy, I decided to go all natural. I was dilated to a 3 when I was Induced. They put the gel In my cervix, I had It done every 3 hours, 3 times. The Induction process started at 3:54 P.M. and after the 3rd gel, they let me progress naturally. I was able to tolerate the contractions without any meds until they broke my water. Around 12 P.M. the next day, they broke my water. That's when the contractions got very painful for me and they stuck some kind of medicine In my IV to ease the pain but It didn't do diddly squat so It was like I never had anythin'. No more than an hour after they broke my water, I wasn't able to take the pain anymore and asked for the Epi but It was too late and they told me I was ready to push and after soooo long of pushin' It was like I was used to the pain so I'm glad I didn't have the Epi. At 3:15 P.M., I had my baby boy.  I did tear and I honestly think that was the worst part In my opinion. It stung and burned sooooo badly that I didn't want to push anymore 'cuz of how much pain I was In, but I had to for my baby. Like Mrs. Baze said, the breathing techniques will really help! Everythin' will be fine! Good luck hun! Keep us updated!

I planned on doing all natural, but we'll see how it goes tomorrow! I hope they don't have to put a balloon in my cervix, that sounds horrible.

I had the gel on my cervix and it started working pretty quickly. They usually do 3 doses 12 hours apart but I never made it to my 3rd dose.

Don't worry, everything will be fine. Some women say being induced is too painful without the epidural but I did it just fine. Breathing techniques and my now-husband got me through most of it. I resorted to Stadol right at the end, but this time I'mready to try it all natural.

I think I have dilated more because I've been having contractions since Wednesday when I got checked, then I lost my whole plug on Friday. So I hope something's happening!

I think they either put some gel on your cervix or they put something in like a tampon but i was told that these methods can take up to 24 hours to start taking effect. You never know when you get examined again you may have dilated more. Fingers crossed for you.

When i was induced i was told that they would only put me on the drip if i was 3cm dilated or more so if you're only 1.5 they may not be able to put you straight on it. Good luck and just think you'll be holding your little bundle in your arms soon and that is such an amazing feeling.
