18 Weeks

Hi I have a question. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I read that by now you would feel the baby moving, my question is as a first time mother...what does it feel like when the baby moves? I've read different women description of how it feels but how would I know the difference, because sometimes I do feel something moving in my stomach but I don't if its just a gas bubble or hunger. I bought a stethoscope and I'm trying to hear the baby's heartbeat but once again i'm hearing sounds but i'm not sure what i'm hearing.

It's harder to tell with your first one since you don't know what to expect.  I would compare it at that point to "butterflies" in your stomach ( but it will be lower than your stomach obviously).

I didn't feel my first until week 20.  With this one, I was feeling little butterflies at week 16.  Some say they feel gas bubbles but I describe them as butterflies.

I first felt baby kicking at about 15 weeks (first time pregnancy too) but didnt recognize it until I was closer to 20 weeks.  For me, it felt like a small gas bubble but I would usually get 3-4 in a row and then it would stop.  I would often feel them in the middle of the night too and at this time, digestion and gas production tends to be a little lower than during the day.

I'm also a first time mom to be. And from I have experienced so far is taps, and feels like twist to me. And sometimes like a bubble popping. I am now 21.6 weeks pregnant and they are getting stronger by the week. The first time I actually felt something was when I was 17 weeks. But I didn't really realize it. They say sometimes it could take you until your 20 + to actually realize its the baby. I tried the stethoscope when I was 18 weeks, and it was really hard to hear the h/b. My mom and boyfriend got to hear it for 2 secs a piece. Baby is very active and is always on the go. So that is what I fount difficult to hear from then.  Umm try drinking some ice cold water and go lay down on your left side and concentrate on your tummy. Thats what works for me. Or I eat something sweet and sit up and I can feel her kick! =] Every pregnancy is different of course, just enjoy it. And soon enough you will feel your little one. =]
