I hardly ever drink...never more than one drink. when I stayed with my family while I was breastfeeding my sister bought drinks specifically for me. I would drink one when I laid my son down for bed and would be okay to feed him in the morning. I always made sure to drink water, too.
Thank you! I'm not a drinker or anything, I just want as much information as possible. I don't want to harm my bubba at all!
i would recommend not to drink while breast feeding cause if your baby gets sick and doctors sees that there is alchol in her/his system not to good
PS - Those test strips are useless - don't waste your money.
If you are too drunk to drive you are too drunk to nurse. One drink is fine, two is probably okay, but I would not go farther than that without waiting a few hours to sober up before nursing. "pump and dump" is ineffective - drinking water and waiting is best. Alcohol does transmit through your system into your milk but in extremely small amounts, though it's best to minimize exposure of course. Different sources say different things but this is what I learned from my midwives, backed up by my own readings into several studies in alcohol transmission.
You should pump and have enough for over 24 hours , they sell test kits for alcohol in breast milk to see when it's safe to breastfeed again. I know they have them at Walmart.
Well any alcohol u drink goes into your breast milk and the baby drinks it too so its basically the same as handing your baby a drink. Babies system isn't mature enough for that. Your decision.
