alcohol and breastfeeding/sleeping

My son turned 2 weeks on friday... is it still normal for him to sleep most of the day?? also....I am breast feeding and was wondering about alcohol and feeding him... is it safe for a small amout? lets say.. one glass of wine?

they say pump before you go out and have the drink and then pump afterwards for a certain amount of hoursbut you have to throw it away.

If you know in advance your going to be drinking pump because with even one glass of wine your going to have to wait at least 3 hours for your it to be completely out of your breast milk. A word of warning though... at this early stage even missing one feeding can cause your milk supply to go down.

my friends would always pump a little extra if they knew in advance they would be drinking.

well when breastfeeding you really cant drink..well you can but you have to avergae it out you know..for every one shot you have of alcohol you have..you need to wait three hours before breastfeeding him again....otherwise its still in your breast milk enough to affect him!!! so its your choice..if you want to have a glass of wine i would suggest pumping a couple ounces just in casee he wants to feed before the three hours!!
