It depends. You don't need much to take to the hospital for baby. The hospital will provide diapers, etc. bring maybe 3/4 outfits for baby. Although I keep my lil ones in the hospital button wrap shirts-it makes caring for the umbilical cord much easier (FYI you can take them home plus diapers from the hospital).... Now for Ur day to day diaper bag: u need maybe 10+ diapers (the baby will be changed at least once every 2hrs), 2/3 outfits-long pjs, summery outfit @ least one of each- bcuz there will be messes (spit ups/poop&pee explosions), a blanket, nursing cover for U if ur nursing, or bottles & formula (remember baby is going to eat every 2hrs or so. Bring enough then some extra to cover the time baby will be away fr home), baby wipes, diaper rash cream, infant Tylenol, thermometer, travel size lotion, travel tissue, changing pad (plus I pack puppy pee pads-to cover what ever-go over whatever, if a mess is made no big deal throw it away), nail clippers, nose sucker syringe, small saline drops, a extra shirt for U, U never know if you'll get spit up all over U & whatever else u use daily when at home with the baby. I also keep in the car as backup & don't take out of the car: 3 diapers, baby wipes, diaper rash cream, a bottle w formula, blanket, baby change of clothes-just in case. It seems like a lot but it's not. I roll the clothes put them in a ziplock bag. Plus I put the toiletries-rash cream, Tylenol, etc all go in a ziplock bag.

Infant socks. The hospital ones are not comfy. Extra undies for you. Your makeup. If you want extra nice care from your nurses, bring then snacks. They will provide diaperos and wipes. Baby lotions might be nice. Extra baby clothing. You don't know for certain how long you and your baby will stay at the hospital for.
