General anesthesia is only used in emergencies when spinal/epidural takes too much time. Some docs require that twin deliveries and vbacs have epidurals because they are at increased risk for emergencies. And yes, there are risks w general anesthesia, otherwise it would be used more. Any time you are under general, you are intubated and on a vent. You are also at increased risk for bleeding. And babies exposed to general almost always require some degree of resuscitation but usually do fine. Nobody wants it...but its not really an option when it comes to the point of needing it...its generally a matter of life and death.
Bub02 this is my second time...I loved the experience
Honestly you dont want to be put to sleep, giving birth is a wonderful experience. I am very scard to do it again but iv done it once i can do it again. I can remember everything, every stage and thats all part if becoming a mum.
Yeah see I want to go all natural vbac no epi. And someone said they can put me to sleep in emergency like uterine rupture so I was just wondering
Full anistisia is only used in a true emergency when there isn't time for a spinal or epidural. The only risk I am aware of is it can make baby sleepy when it comes out so the baby usually needs oxygen for a few minutes until they can perk it up and usually babies delivered in those situations also take a little longer to breast feed incitally since they're sleepy
They can put you to sleep while pregnant. They monitor baby and usually have a ob team on stand by. But baby is usually safe and fine when mom is put to sleep. Babies heartrate usually will dip, but so does moms.
That's what i think too ^^
I dont think they put u to sleep for nething. I dont think its safe. even for c section or nething u just have a tarp thing put up in front of u n ur numb there.
I have never heard of them even putting you asleep for any reason while in labor.....
