A smelly belly button is a common complaint, not so much from just pregnant women but everyone in general... its because it is normally missed when cleaning and smegma, oils, bacteria can build up in it, my guess is you just noticed this because your belly button just popped out, making you more aware of the smell... i read tea tree oil is good to put on it as well as normal daily hygeine but havent gotten a for sure answer on if its safe for pregos, the one herb Dr said it was but i would still confirm with your Dr if this is the case before using...
Also peirced ears can get a bad smell as well, my guess would be the same, easily over looked when washing....

And yes it is perfectly normal for your belly button to pop out :)

Is your belly button pierced? if so that happens you just need to use a q-tip and soap to clean it.
