When you have your period your uterus will slough off the uterine lining and that includes any unfertilized egg or eggs. Think of your uterus as a nest; every cycle your body rebuilds a new "nest" for the intention of a fertilized egg. No fertilized egg means you'll have that period and then your body begins to rebuild the nest.

If you ovulate two mature ovums but do not conceive they'll both either dissolve or be taken out with your menstruation. If you do conceive there is a chance of fraternal twins.
