just got back from l&d

So I went to maternal fetal medicine today for my ultrasound (I get one every four wks to check my babies kidneys) the ultrasound tech told me the fluid was very low and the Dr wanted to talk to me. I heard them saying I'm 38 weeks 1 day due July 1st, but at my drs he says I'm 37 weeks 4 days due July fifth? But w.e I guess its not a big deal! Anyway the Dr at maternal fetal Med said my fluid is low and that's being "generous". However he said baby was fine and he saw no imminent need to deliver her right away. He called my ob and my ob said to take me to l&d to monitor me and run some tests. I was pretty p***** because about a week ago I went to l&d bc I thought my water was leaking and they told me it wasn't and sent me home. Then at my drs he said i "shrunk" and was only measuring 33wks which must of been bc my fluid bein low. Obviously my fluid WAS leaking!  They just ended up sending me home. The nurse said she thought for sure I was getting admitted and couldn't believe they sent me home. My ob wants me to come in tmmr and discuss about MAYBE inducing me. I'm a ftm and I really don't know what to expect. But everyone keeps saying they can't believe they sent me home. Has anyone went thru this??

There are things you can do for low fluid levels including drinking LOTS of water every day to replenish the supply. Also, being induced does increase the chance of c-section but many moms have a vaginal delivery no problem. Though inductions are much more painful because of the pitocin so make sure you have your comfort measures well established (whether it be massage, water, epidural, etc.). As long as baby is healthy and you don't loose any more water, I'd hold off on the induction and do your best to replenish the fluid naturally and go into labor on your own when baby is ready. Best of luck!

Not necessarily. I think I had one because the lack of fluid meant she had nothing to turn around in. also, I had a medicaid Dr that averaged 33 deliveries a month, and already had one scheduled before me that evening. I always saw his practitioner, not him. The fourth time I saw him is the day I had surgery.

But the issue with extremely low fluid is they can't practice breathing since there isn't any fluid to breathe with. So the concern ends up being the lungs aren't strong enough to breathe air once born. If kendallyn had been positioned right and I knew more at the time, I most likely would have been induced, seeing as how her monitoring showed her stats to be perfect and normal. Sectioning was best for me bc of the breech (my now Dr confirmed that). I was 40w6d when this happened...

Also, I never had a gush of any sort. And never noticed I was leaking. Not sure even I even was bc they didn't test for it, but I had an ultrasound 6 days before snd they hadn't been concerned about fluid level then...

That happened to me with  daughter, and when they saw the fluid levels they admitted me then and sectioned her six hours later (was monitored the whole time). They didn't induce because there was only one pocket of fluid and it didn't pass standards and she was breech.

Do you still feel like you are leaking fluid?

I havent personally been thru this but your hind waters can break causing you to have a slow leak, this is probably what has happened with you, they can re-seal, in the meantime keep up your fluid intake making sure you have alot to drink as this can imcrase the amount of fluid baby has around her, take it easy and good luck :)
