1st Prenatal visit? What to expect.

So i'm far from new at the whole pregnancy thing, this will be my 5th baby, however I have forgotten what happens at the first prenatal visit. They said it is a 45 minute appointment, which seems kind of long. I will be 12w 4d on Monday which is when my appointment is. Will they be doing an ultrasound? Pap smear?

Can I deny a pelvic exam?

They will probably do a pap and some STD cultures.  Where I live they normally have you set up an appt with an OB nurse first where they ask you all the questions about your family history and your partners family history so if you haven't done that yet they probably will.  They may try to listen for the heartbeat if you are 12 weeks along as well and just review a few things.  As far as the ultrasound I don't know if they will do one or not it depends on the place.  Again where I live they don't do one at the first visit they will schedule you for one though.  Good luck.

Uhg. I'm not current on my pelvic exams. It's been 2 years since I have had one...actually more like 3 years as my last pelvic exam was when I found out I was pregnant with Conner back in 07. I hate having them, because I had precancerous cells on my cervix back in 05.

Hopefully they do an ultrasound. I want to see my little bean!!!

During my first prenantal visit they just found out my medical history, went over nutrition, what to do and not do, took weight and blood pressure, also took blood for all of the standard tests (HIV, STDs, blood count, ect)
I did get an ultrasound there in the room.  But, I know it differs from place to place.  If you have had a pap smear and are current on it they most likely will not need to do a pelvic exam.
