What to do without insurance?

I went to the ER at 4 1/2 weeks. Ultrasound showed everything was okay and in place, but wasn't able to hear a heart beat because baby was too small. I am now around 10 weeks.. I applied for insurance about a month ago but have still heard nothing back. Health department only does blood tests to confirm pregnancy and all other doctors here require you to pay up front. I feel fine, other than normal pregnancy symptoms. Haven't had any pain or bleeding.. but what should I do? Insurance could take another month or so to come through. Simply cannot afford to pay up front for ultrasound, dr. Appointment and blood work which is estimated at around $500 for everything.

And BTW social service has so much "work" that I don't have a blue and white Medicaid card I have to use my famis card and a piece of paper they sent me saying I was approved BC I still had the same enrollee ID number so they just told me to use what I had. I made sure whoever had my case got wind of what happened

The same thing happened to me long story short if you're pregnant then social service is suppose to take no longer than 15 days I applied one day the next I was approved but I was famis insured b4 so my enrollee ID number wasn't valid so I was unable to use my medicid the first 4 moths of my pregnancy and no one at social service was responsoding to me until I got really pissed and called the Virginia operations of Medicaid and was connected to supervision which took me weeks to find that number and a lady took care of my case the next day. So if social services not acting right call the board of health care in your state BC they frown upon pregnant women not receiving help from case workers

I didn't even find out that I was pregnant until I was 4 months pregnant. I applied for medicaid for pregnant women as soon as I could and they told me that it would be a max of 15 days before I got my card. But I was approved that day. I don't know why they are saying it would take 45-90 days for you to be approved...regular applications take a max of 30 days to process and when you apply for pregnant women they do their best to get it to you asap because you'd have to set up doctors and most doctors won't even make an appointment for you unless you already have the insurance they accept or you can pay up front and normally doctors take a while to get in to see as is. That's why its a fast process. So I think you're being played...you need to reapply and actually go in and talk to someone face to face.

Wow, I never would have gone to the emergency room without insurance unless I was in a car accident or broke a bone or something. What happened?? You say you can't afford the doctor's appointment and blood work, how are you paying for the ER visit?

You can go on there website and see if they approved you or not. If you are approved you can go to a doctor before your card comes in but I would still recommend going and seeing why you haven't received your card yet.

The insurance will go back up to six months just tell them to bill you and when you get your medical card contact the number on your bill and give your Medical ID number everything will be fine after that

You can go see a doc that takes medicaid and they will do presumptive eligibility (until your medicaid goes through) this happened to me. They give you sixty days and your medicaid will go through. You qualify because your pregnant.

Your best bet is to go into the health and welfare office near you and do it in person... then they tell you right there if you have it or not

They said it's normal for it to take 45-90 days. I have called about it and they said that it's still being processed. I'm sure that I will be approved, since I have been on TennCare my whole life until I forgot to renew last year. But my question is just basically if it's okay to wait another month or 2 even before hearing the baby's heartbeat or seeing it?

Go apply again, you have to hear back from them. Seriously, put a whole new application in online. You should be able to get help.
