Cold cuts question!

This may be silly, but I am craving sandwiches pretty bad this pregnancy, I was wondering if you heat it up, how long should you heat it for, microwave, or pan, and after that, is it safe to cool it back down and eat it cold again?

I work in hospital food service, I am ServSafe certified, and you should know it is not safe to eat cold cut deli meat. the risk purposed is that you may contract a food borne illness known as listeria. If you really want that sandwich first try thick slice carved lunch meat as it is not processed like cold cuts. If you really don't like that then heating the lunch meat to an internal temperature of 165 degrees and then cooling back down to in between 40 an 36 degrees is safe. you need to make sure the cooling down process is done within 2 hours because if not you run the risk of growing bacteria and contracting other food borne illnesses.  It is not super common for woman to get sick from lunch meat but is is a relatively higher risk. As a mom who is also pregnant I know I don't take any extra risks concerning my new little bundle and I'm sure you don't either. Hope i helped hun, and congrats!!!

I guess everyone's doctors vary, but I have 100 % faith in my doctor and he said heat it up, I read where a woman got listeria while pregnant and her daughter had all sorts of complications, so I'm not taking any risks! I'll heat it up, noooo big deal! :)

Thank you Pokey, that was very helpful!

I had no idea.... I LOVE sandwiches.  Now I am googling what I should avoid while I am pregnant.

But.... would anyone know if it is alright to take Omega 3-6-9 while I am pregnant.  I can't see it being an issue, but I stopped until I could take to my Dr on the 26th.  I have been taking them because they have been helping me with my joint pains.  Thanks....

You're supposed to heat up all deli meats/cold cuts before eating them.

Yes you just have to heat it to where it is steaming microwave or pan and then you can cool it back down again to have a cold sandwich.
