Crap just realized i didn't really answer your question... Some good foods i would say are fruits like berries and apples, whole grains, and proteins. Try to avoid white bread , white rice and bagels. Stick more with the brown selections brown rice, whole wheat bread, etc. Other complex carbs include potatoes which i try to limit myself to small portions. And try to stay away from simple sugars as well like sodas candy stuff like that. Everything seems to be okay in moderation but for us its important to be extra careful
Hi I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes as well. I'm 26 weeks now and working on changing my diet to eliminate about half the carbs I normally eat. I'm also required to check my blood sugar 4 X's a day; fasting when I wake up, and then 2 hrs after each big meal breakfast lunch and dinner. So far it's not so bad. I've been keeping a food journal withmy sugar numbers to help see what foods are okay for me to eat. Good luck!
I also have gestational diabetes
just test 2 hrs after everymeal and watch what you eat. Find what triggers the sugars and reduce that item. Its not so bad once you get it monitered
