12 weeks pregnant and had emergency surgery

Hi, i am 12 weeks pregnant and just had my appendix taken out on sunday. The doc told me that there is a chance of miscarring for up to a week post op. I had a very tramatic miscarriage 2 years ago which ended up in 3 surgeries in two days. I had an ultrasound on tuesday which showed that my baby;s heart rate wad at 157bpm. I am sooo worried of miscarriage happening again. My boyfriend and i just ordered a doppler so we can listen to the heartbeat any time we want. While at the hospital my gp and nurses tried the doppler about 4 times and no luck to hear the heartbeat. When is it normal to be able to hear the hb on a doppler. I am very stressed about miscarrying and i am still in lots of pain from my surgery. I am on some very strong pain killers and so worried about miscarriage. The ultrasound tech also told us that we are having a boy!  This makes my boyfriend and i estatic and could not imagine what would happen if we lost our presious baby boy!  I need a stress reliever so bad. I am gonna go crazy!

I had my appendix removed at 11w3d and my son is three now. Take it super easy and try not to stress that's really all you can do. Good luck!

Yes i had the ultrasound 2 days after surgery. The u/s tech had said that it was too early to tell if it was a boy or girl but then my baby flipped around and pretty much put the groin area right on the screen. He asked me if i wsnted to know what it was. He said it might not be. 100 percent accurate but he has been doing this for over 20 years so he said he feels 90 percent sure it will be a boy

if your only 12 wks it sounds really early for her to be certain that its a boy.  My tech said she could not tell until after 16wks and that they dont tell you until after 18 to be sure.

As for the heartbeat I know that sometimes they have to chase around the baby to find it since its not always in the same spot but you had your U/s after your surgery right?  so try not to stress out they saw the heartbeat.
