can't sleep

been awake for 17hrs and normally knackered after being awake just a few hours. But I'm not even tired just peeing every 15-20 mins. Nothing is helping me sleep either. Is there anything I can take to help I'm 36w 6d

Your body is preparing for lack of sleep when baby arrives, think everyone finds it hard to sleep at the end of a pregnancy between the excitement, worry and hormones! Just try to relax as best you can and enjoy the quiet before baby arrives to cause mayhem with your sleeping, eating and generally every minute of your day! Good luck

warm baths, read boring books, chamomile or peppermint tea, tylenol pm complete darkness and silence is th only routine that works for me when im restless. i developed insomnia in my first trimester and have been told ill stay this way long after the baby is born. i have a big family so its hard to get a quiet house i sometimes use earplugs and a sleep mask as well.

well I managed to get to sleep at 3am. By then I had been awake 21hrs then I kept waking up every half hour-hour to use the bathroom. I then got woken up at 6am by my partners alarm so I only got about 2hrs sleep. And its like this most nights until I'm that tired I just sleep most the day and night. Got midwife soon so I'll ask her about it

I am unable to sleep more than 2 hours.. Went to sleep at 3am n woke up at 5am..have been up since then... 33weeks 3days i m n hope to get good sleep :(

Just a couple weeks ago when i was having trouble sleeping my doctor said to take tylonal pm or 25mg benedryl. This was told to me at 35 weeks so im sure its safe but always ask your doctor first.

There are a couple of things that are safe to take when pregnant for sleep aid...many OTC sleep aids are safe (some women have been told to take benedryl, or unisom), so ask your doctor and they can recommend something to hopefully help you out.

I know that every time I've been pregnant and hospitalized they offer me ambien in the hospital, but I never take it...I just know that they always offer it, so I would imagine that may be something you can talk to your doctor about taking once at night if he agrees.

But to be perfectly honest...the last stretch of pregnancy is pretty typically accompanied by insomnia. I don't know many women that slept well in the weeks leading up to delivery. Cut out all liquids about an hour - 2hrs before bedtime (make sure you're hydrating well the rest of the night) pee immediately before lying down, and try sleeping in a recliner (sometimes this can help). But very often the hormone surge at the end of pregnancy will wreak havoc on your sleep...so try reading a book, or watching a tv series that you've been wanting to watch...and don't fight to fall asleep or you'll just get frustrated...if you can't sleep, try to go with the flow and just relax. best time to do it is now, before baby gets here :-).

Really the only thing my Ob says can be used for that over the counter is benadryl.  Take 2.  Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.  I don't really know of anything else.  I am bipolar though and with my doctors supervision I was put back on my seroquil a few weeks ago for sleep, cause I went 4 days and wasn't doing so hot.  I wish you the best, your almost there.  Maybe try some hot milk or tea also?  I'm 32 weeks and I'm ready to have it all be over myself.
