How can I induce labor?

Hello Ladies,
I am 39 weeks pregnant with my second child.  I was hoping I would go into labor on my own this time.  I went 2 weeks over with my first and it took three different inducing methods to get my labor started and still it took 27 hours after they broke my water for my daughter to arrive....SO..... I was really hoping to expereice natural labor.

Does anyone have any tips on inducing  labor besides sex and castor oil?

I'd love to read some stories of what has worked for you....

Thank you!!

I heard there are pressure points in the feet and ankles that help cause labor. Have your dh start rubbing your feet. if it doesn't work...at least you got a foot rub. and walking...LOTS of walking.

I remember being soooooooo desperate to go into labor with my youngest son that I did try literally everything! I even tried accupressure, which failed miserably...my feet hurt for days afterwards! I am always up for trying new things, as long as it is safe and i'm at term. I remember reading an article in the newspaper in my home state about a woman eating a crud load of black licorice and she had her baby 3 hours later!

Guess what I did LMAO! I went and bought a pound of that stuff and ate it all....despite hating licorice, and all it did was send me to the bathroom for DAYS! It also gave me a really bad sour stomach, and everytime I smell something even remotely close to black licorice I want to hurl lol.

I love reading up on natural ways to induce labor, I think I will go research the swallowing semen thing.....I want to have my I's dotted and T's crossed when the time comes and the DF tries to use that to his advantage LMAO!

So that was an idea. My Semen thing I read it on the internet also? haha.

Just start pushing hah? No dont... My SIL is trying to go into labour has tried EVERYTHING and nothing is working, she has to be pumped with blood for an hour before birth though...

I dunoo...

make yourself sneeze??

Pineapple doesn't work LOL. I ate a whole one all to myself when pregnant with Conner trying to induce labor, and all it did was give me the runs for HOURS! Sex....well I wouldn't know, I forgot what that was when I was pregnant with the other 3 boys. Swallowing Semen...I'm just leaving that one alone LOL!!!

Milkshake from McDonalds....once again, thats screaming Diarreah for me, i'm lactose lol. Walking helped lower the baby into my pelvic area, but beings I was pregnant with stubborn boys, they lifted right back up. I wouldn't attempt the trampoline....I hate wine of all kinds. Raspberry tea didn't do it for me either, just gave me massive heartburn. Casor oil...I tried it more than once, and all it did was give me the runs and made me feel SICK! Spicy food just gave me heartburn, tried black and blue cohosh...didnt work either. Nipple stimulation did however produce contractions, but nothing that sent me into labor.

Speed bumps! I didn't try that, like the trampoline one, i'd be scared that I wouldn't go into labor but the baby would just fall out LOL.

Like I said, I have tried EVERYTHING! And for me nothing worked. Baby will come when baby comes....Black licorice is supposed to help too, but it just gave me a really bad upset tummy. So is Egg plant parmesean...which didn't work for me either. I'm tellin ya, I have some pretty stubborn kids lol!

Pineapple, Curry, Chillie, Sex (Doggy Style) Swallowing Semen, Milkshake from Mcdonalds(ice cream and cold).
Erm, walking long distance, Trampolines? One glass of Red Wine, Raspberry Tea, Walk, Sex, Castor oil, Spicy food, Blue and black cohosh, Nipple stimulation. Get your partner to drive and go over speed bumps quite fastish.

GOOD LUCKK

haha I dont think i could do the stimulation of nipples thing. My DH would just laugh at me doing it and i'd feel silly lol.  Although i'd love a natural safe way as I don't want a xmas baby i'd love to provoke it before xmas.

Castor oil sounds like a bad idea. I may try the raspberry tea leaf come time.

I've heard rasperry leaf tea works. Just relax and let your baby come when it's ready!

Since this is your second baby I doubt you will go two weeks over again.  Let nature take it's course and bub will come when he/she is ready!  Good luck!

I honestly tried EVERYTHING! To induce labor with my youngest son, from a lot of sex to taking massive amounts of castor oil. I even have a journal entry called my journey with castor oil. I never was able to self induce labor. I ate licorice, spicy stuff, castor oil, primrose oil on my cervix, black and blue cohosh, everything. And nothing worked. Honestly your body won't go into labor until your baby is ready, no matter what you do. I finally gave birth to my son on his due date.

I found this list of ideas on line...

Hope that helps. I wish all the best with your labor. Maybe you will have a easier go with it since it's your second child?
