father in room

So the father of my baby and I are not together but obviously had adult relations. We have been friends for quite some time, sometimes with benefits. Anyways, when discussing who will be in the room when I have our baby he stated he would prefer it be just the two of us. I want to respect his wishes but know this may upset some people in my family. Any thoughts or opinions?? Any would help.

Maybe you can deliver the baby just with him on the room once the baby is out you can have your family come in the room

So far he is very supportive of me and of this pregnancy, far beyond what I expected him to be. I see his side because he wants our child to see our faces first and be able to have that moment together. But my family can be a tad pushy and I'm afraid that my sister will push him out of the way if she is in there.

I sort of see this from two different perspectives I guess.  He is the babies dad and it sounds like the two of you are going to co parent.  If he has been supportive of the pregnancy and you (whether together or not) and you believe he is going to play an active role in the babies life (financially and emotionally), then I do feel he should have a say.

On the other hand, the primary reason to have someone in labor and delivery is to support you as you go through the process.  So I think it's important to have someone there that is 100% there for you.

I guess at the end of it, I think you have to decide and try not to worry about hurting anyone's feelings.  They will get over it.

My hubby left it up to me because it was my body. I had my mother, him, and his mother in the room. I was going to have my aunt, but due to her work schedule it didnt work out. I say do what makes you comfortable.

I think you should do what YOU want to do, not what he wants and not what your family or friends want. Invite into the room whoever will make you most comfortable with the process, when your child's father pops out a baby lol, then he can define who he wants with him.
