Pregnant or not?

- The girl claims she has irregular periods. So according to her, her last period was December 9th.
- She said usually comes after 1 week after the 28 days, so she was expecting her period to come on the week of the Jan 11th
- The sexual intercourse happened on the night of January 10th, using condoms as protection.
- She said she took the pharmacy self-test on the January 15th, and it was positive. She tried 2 different brands
- She said she went to the doctor on the January 18th, and the doctor said she is pregnant.

Questions are:
- Can she get pregnant so fast? The fact that she has an irregular period allow for that to happen?
Assuming she is wrong about her last period:
- Can the pharmacy test show positive after only 4 days following the intercourse?
- Can a blood test or any other test a doctor can do 7 days after intercourse show that she is pregnant?
- How long is needed to wait to do a DNA test before birth?

You should stop stressing out over this. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty damn sure that no doctor would implant Implanon on a pregnant woman; more so prescribe a birth control knowing their patient is pregnant. Gyno's usually have patients pee into a cup, to do a pregnancy test, a few minutes before the the actual doctor/patient meeting, no matter what they're going in for.
I have Implanon and my doctor didn't just implant the rod into my arm as soon as I asked for it. I literally had to wait until the end of my next period. Having irregular periods, she explained that my body would easily adapt to the Implanon after ovulation, rather than before or during. Taking birth control pills while your pregnant could cause preterm delivery, low birth weight, ectopic pregnancy, the list goes on.
Your best bet is to leave this girl ... good luck.

She is playing you BIG TIME! I would run for my Life if I was you! She is nothing but lying to you! I got News fo you if you used protection she is not pregnant by you! She got probably pregnant or had an accident with someone else who is less likely to take care of her and her child so she had "SEX" with you so she can pass the Child on to you!
Please do not be so crazy to fall for her BS. Even according to the Dates there is no way you could be the father! I am sorry but she is "PLAYING" you big time!

Hi I have some news about my case and wanted to share to seek for some advice.

Last night she told me she was bleeding. She didnt want to go to the clinic because she didnt want to go out of her house. This morning she went to the clinic and after that she called me saying the doctor told her she had a miscarriage and she wasnt pregnant anymore. She said the doctor gave her a pill to help clean everything from her womb. She said she asked the doctor for an contraceptive method and the doctor gave her Implanon, the implant that goes on the arm and lasts for 3 years.

This afternoon she called me again saying that she lied to me and that she didnt have a miscarriage, that she freaked out because the doctor told her she should take better care of her, because her womb was weak, and she could have problems conceiving again. So, basically, she was still pregnant. I asked her if the Implanon part was a lie too and she said no, that the doctor really gave her the arm implant.

My question is the following: can a doctor really apply and contraceptive measure (like Implanon in this case) while the woman is still pregnant? Is that even possible?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link. I just came back from the doctor with her. They did a new urine test, it was positive. The Dr made a ultrasound scan and couldnt find anything. The Dr said is too early to spot it, so she wants to see her again in 2 weeks.

I guess the timings are correct, and she had her real period on the 24th of December.

Thanks @Melka76.

Is there a table or some reference to relate the HCG level and how many weeks after fertilization?

I am sorry I misread the post - even still a postive home test at 4 days past intercourse is still too early to show...

- a home pregnancy test will not be positive the day after intercourse with you  IF you were the father (she would have had to be pregnant prior to your ONE time) .... you need implantation to occur for HCG to be in your blood/urine.  The Doctor will be able to tell you by her HCG levels in her blood about how many weeks she is.(ASK FOR THE HCG LEVEL AND ESTIMATED CONCEPTION DATE)... Keep in mind that they will add 2 weeks onto the actual date (that sex took place) as they are calcuated by your last menstrual cycle not your ovulation date which is when you actual concieve.. (about 10 -14 days after your last period starts)  And ultrasound vaginally can detect a sac as early as 5 weeks (which would be 3 weeks after you had sex)  with a fetal pole and heartbeat around 6 weeks.. at least for me... They can "DATE" the pregnancy more accurately than the bloodwork but can still be off by a few days...  I know that I my eggs were fertilized on 11/1/09 - as I did IVF - implanted back in 11/4 - did not get a positive blood or home test until 11/13 - (even had a blood test on 11/7 that was negative) I wish you all the best - The DR should clarify some things for you tomorrow - please keep us updated....

Thanks @LosingMyMindInGA and thanks @Brittny27 for your comments.

She agreed to go to the doctor with me tomorrow.

1- Is there any way the doctor can tell when the fertilization occurred by looking at the blood tests or the ultrasound?
2- Would anything even show up on an ultrasound 13 days after fertilization?

She claims now she had a short period on the December 9th and another short period on December 24th - 26th

4 days after intercourse is WAY too soon to tell if she is pregnant from THAT particular time.  If she was expecting her period around the 11th then she would have ovulated 10-14 days PRIOR To that.  When a woman ovulates her egg is only good for being fertilized for approximately 24 hours, may be a little longer.  If she ovulated closer to the 11th then it is possible she could have gotten pregnant...BUT it would not have shown up on a home or doctors test so soon.

IF she were to have an amniocentesis a little later in the pregnancy they could run a DNA test, but if there are no other risk factors saying an amnio is adviseable then the risks are too high to the baby to have one performed solely for DNA purposes, it's best to wait until the baby is born.

If she is in fact pregnant and you only had sex with her the one time on the 10th it is near impossible that you are the father (notice I said NEAR impossible...not completely impossible, stranger things HAVE happened).  MOST likely she had intercrouse with another individual around the end of december/beginning of january and that individual is the father.

A blood test is more sensative so yes it would show just a couple days after implantation. I would think earliest would be 10 days after intercourse if intercourse happened on ovulation day.

Thanks Brittny27 for you reply.

Does any one know how early a blood test made by the doctor would show positive?

Thanks Eirlis for your comments. I only had intercourse with her once. She didnt give me any details on her conversation with the doctor. She didn't allow me to be there.

It takes 7-10 days for the egg to implant after being fertilized. It then takes another 3-4 days before it releases enough HCG to be detected in your urine. So NO she can not get a positive on a home test a day after intercourse. You can get a DNA test done at 18-20 wks through a test called amniothesis. But there are risks of misscariage. I would think you are not the father if you only had sex once with this girl that close to a home test showing positive.
Good luck

I'm pretty sure 4 days after intercourse is too soon for a home test to detect hcg (the earliest they can detect is 10 days after ovulation). If her period was due 1/11, she probably ovulated around 12/28. So, if she got pregnant this cycle, it's unlikely you're the father (although nothing's impossible...).

Did you have sex with her last month as well? It's possible that her last period was implantation bleeding and not a true period and she is farther along than you think. Did the doctor say how far she is or tell you what her hcg numbers are?
