fetal head is three weeks behind in third trimester                                                                                 tags:abmormal ultrasound results'small fetal head'microcephaly                                                                          i have done my first ultrasound on16weeksand fetal bpd is31.3mm .my second ultrasound is done on 21weeks and bpd of fetal is5.7cm my third scan is done on34weeks and fetal bpd is 73.05mmand shows small head but no anomaly seen'then doc again repeat anomaly ultrasound on37weeks and bpd is 76mm and doppler scan done on 38weekand bpd is 79mmand  repeat anomaly scan on38week and head size appears small microcephaly.and bpd is 7.66cm.my first doppler is done on 9.06.2010.and the second one is done on 23.06.2010.for umbilical artery demonstrates a resistive index of 0.43 .please help me to tell what is going on with my baby and my lmp is 18september 2009and my dd is 25june2010

Ultrasounds can be off and it does sound like your baby has microcephaly, HOWEVER..... babies sometimes are off on growth at the younger age and then catch up quickly.
For example, my uterus measured 6 WEEKS behind at one point, I was 32wpregnant and measured only around 26w. Then about 4 weeks later I had caught up completely.

Baby can catch up, it's DEFINITELY possible, also sometimes kids just have small heads and nothing is really wrong. :)

I think the only person that can answer this question is your doctor... Ultrasounds can be off but it could definitely be an indication that there is something wrong with the baby. The only way you are going to know for sure is to have the baby and see what happens afterwords. I hope that everything turns out okay for you and baby.
