With my first baby I honestly didn't pack anything I didn't even take my diaper bag I had my sister bring the diaper bag to the hospital but with this baby I'm going to Pack everything  my own night gown my own socks my own UNDERWEAR my own shampoo & conditioner.
Pack like if you & your baby were going to spend the night at your  friends house

Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, nursing bras, comfortable clothes for a couple of days, chapstick, phone charger, cash for cafeteria and vending machines, swim trunks for hubby so he can get in the birthing pool with me. Lots of spare undies, I don't like the big stretchy gauze ones provided.
I don't remember needing anything else for me personally - I don't have an issue using hospital-provided soap and shampoo but some people do, I certainly didn't feel a need to get dolled up before or after delivery but some people refuse to be seen without a full face of makeup so YMMV.
If you're going in to be induced it might take quite a long time... might want to bring a book or something. I packed a deck of cards and a cribbage board but then didn't leave for the birthing center until 12 hours into active labor so I wasn't really able to concentrate on a game by then.
