I flew while pregnant several times. I did walk a bit in the aisles. Wasn't easy is right. I didn't do it every twenty minutes but probably ever hour. I was scheduled to fly to Ireland from the states at 33 weeks and did not go due to bleeding prior to the trip. I had fallen down the stairs. Ugh.
Anyway, on my prior trips, I didn't wear compression socks but did walk some about every hour while in flight.
good luck
Reply to smichellec - I was told I should get up and walk around now and then... not every 20 minutes. I was warned that my ankles might swell and that compression socks would help, but I didn't buy any - I hadn't had any issues with edema beforehand and didn't have any trouble with my flights either. Staying hydrated and continuing to move around when possible makes a huge difference, but waddling up and down the tiny aisles of a full airplane every 20 minutes isn't always a feasible option.
I am going to Germany in June i be 23 weeks and staying a month my dr already said i can go!!!!
OK thanks for all the advice everyone
You might want to ask about flying out of the country
OK thankyou my boyfriends just surprised me with tickets to Spain so that's a relief to know
Geekmom: Were you told to walk every 20 minutes on the plane and wear compression socks?
I flew at 34 weeks, took along a copy of my face sheet from my midwives' office just in case I needed care while I was away from home. Nobody at any of the 3 airports we took off from asked a single question - some airlines have restrictions (after 36 weeks for example) but I certainly looked big enough to be full term and everyone left me alone. If you're not at high risk your practitioner should clear you to travel with no problems.
Yes just talk to your doctor about when you shouldn't fly all docotrs are different
