I have a question because I hear all these thing about what you should and shouldn't eat. I have been craving a subway sandwich but I heard you shouldn't eat lunch meat unless its cooked to steaming temps especially during the first trimester. So my question is can I have a cold cut sandwich. My mom says go for it because she ate what ever she wanted with me and my sister and we a really fine.

I ate deli sandwichs with both my previous pregnancies, and never heated up the meat. That's just gross. Both my boys are fine and healthy!! I eat deli meats with this pregnancy and so far my lil girl is fine!! Don't stress too much about what you can and can't eat... Some of it is silly, and some of it is just common sense.

Actually pregnant women are at a much higher risk (around 20x higher) than others and the risks just aren't worth it. It takes a few minutes of extra time and saves you a lot of headache later on and chance.

My best advice to you is to Google the odds of getting listeria, which is what can possibly be in cold lunch meat. Think, have you ever heard of anyone getting listeria from eating cold meats?  The odds are pretty much in your favor. I eat cold meats and subway, I just have them toast my sandwich. Its really not something to stress about.

Any type of lunch meat.. Even the packaged stuff you should heat up before use. You can wait for it to cool down before you put it on your sandwich. Its just safer that way.

My best advice for you..would be to buy packaged meat like hillshire (sp)...Oscar mayer and make your own at home....you don't have to heat the meat up because my doctor said they put stuff in there that makes it safe to eat....avoid getting meat cut from the deli due to them not cleaning after Every use.... :)

You can eat cold cuts, just warm the meat in the microwave first b4 making ur sandwich!! I craved turkey a lot n had to have sandwiches all the time!    I honestly wouldn't chance not warming the meat because the bacteria listeriosis ( sp?) can really harm ur baby...also, if u do eat at subway, just make sure u get ur sub toasted!! :-)

You shouldn't have deli sliced meat because it can have bacteria on it...they don't clean their machines after. Every use.....but packaged lunch meat is safe to eat....i eat subways once a month and my baby girl is perfectly healthy :)
