My hospital offered a class. It really did nothing for me though. Breastfeeding is a learning process for both you and baby. The best way to learn about it is trying it out and following through. Also asking your doctor or midwife questions you may have is a good option too. We took our son to the ped yesterday for his 4 day old appt and even she had advice to offer as far as breastfeeding, milk coming in, diapering with breastfeeding, etc. Good luck! :) it's truly a wonderful bonding experience for mom and baby!
I never went to classes or read books. Babies are born with sucking reflex. Unless they are sick or premature. My bub latch after few tries. At first its just painful. But after few weeks baby adjust to feeding patterns and your breast stopped hurting.
I'm from Ireland and yes I'm going to talk to my Dr about a class Monday x
It can be very frustrating at first, especially if your baby doesnt want to latch. And at the beginning it does hurt a little, but gets easier in time. Just dont give up and be stubborn lol.
I don't know where you're from but normally a lactation consultant will come help you out before you leave the hospital and you could pump also!
Have you considered taking a class for it? I am taking one for free at the WIC clinic next month in October so that I can learn more about it also
