It not as bad as it sounds as long as you take care of it my dr started me off on the pill and.a diet which did not work for me so i had to take insulin and cut.out all pop so on so forth.but my son was perfectly healthy tho the dr induced me a week early cus he was on the bigger side he was 8 lb 9.8oz.but you'll be fine :) goodluck!
I have gestational diabetes and was put on a diet and also insulin. Doctor didn't want me taking pills to control it. I check my levels 4 times a day and take insulin 4 times a day. They are small dosage but it helps the baby maintain her levels. She is measuring slightly bigger than her age. Best part is I see her often with ultrasounds. All in all nothing to be afraid about. We as mothers will do what we have to do to take care of our bodies for our unborn. Hope this helps.
I just failed my 3 hour test. Got the results today. Now I have to meet with a specialist who will keep an eye on my sugar. I also have to see a nutritionist who will give me a diet to follow. I'm going to have to check my blood 4 times a day. At 34 weeks I have to see my doctor 2 times a week while they do a non stress test on the baby. I didn't bomb my 3 hour test. 2 of my draws were low and 2 were slightly elevated.
True.. the insulin thing varies... diet is what'll change first..
And only some women are put on insulin. It is a last resort usually. Your blood sugars can easily be controlled by watching what you eat.
You will be put on a special diet if you fail. No biggy. It just means your body is having a hard time breaking down sugars properly and baby is at risk for being bigger. There are a few ither details your doctor will explain. It is not pleasent but it is not the worse thing that can happen. Try to relax.
They'll put you on temporary insulin to take during the remainder of your pregnancy to control your sugar levels.. That medication shouldn't affect your baby, but protect your baby more so.
A least this is what I hear in my hospital...
Hope This Helps... Tiff
