What could it be now????

Ok. Last night I ended up going to the ER because I'm getting these strong crampy pains in my lower right side. The pain is about 2-3 inches above my pelvic bone. It has been happening off and on for the last 48 hours or so. My period is now delayed by 4 weeks and I have other signs of pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies run on my mothers side of the family, so I got a little concerned. Hence why I ended up in the ER. After waiting for 3 hours they finally took me in and did a full blood work up. The pregnancy test came back negative and my white cell count was normal. The doctor told me that because the pregnancy test came back negative that it couldn't be an ectopic pregnancy. I didn't feel comfortable with his response because I know many women who have had ectopic pregnancies and have had their pregnancy tests come out negative. I questioned his answer and he said he would do a catscan to make sure it wasn't my appendix. I told him that I didn't want to have a cat scan done because I have to put liquid into my body that isn't good for me and I have to be subjected to radiation. I asked him if we could do an ultrasound instead, because the ultrasound would show an ectopic pregnancy and or an issue with my appendix. He said that I can't just walk into the ER and order my own tests and diagnose myself. So I told him I have rights as the patient and I was not having a cat scan done and if he wouldn't order the ultrasound than I was leaving. Needless to say, I ended up leaving. Does anyone have any advice? Sorry for being so long winded. I wanted to give you all the info :-)

do you have a family practicioner that you see?  if so, i would go to them with your issues......Dr.'s can be so harsh...and as a matter of fact, you do have the right to tell them what you will and won't do.....in the big scheme of things, they work for YOU.....there are many different nationalities that are not bale to go thru certain tests/exams due to their religion, and they are still treated.....good luck and keep us posted....
