My doctor and everything that I have read said 25 lbs. If you are lifting more its ok. It will not harm your baby. The reason why you shouldn't lift anything heavy is because during pregnancy its very easy to hurt yourself. Pull muscles or even sprain something, in you 3rd trimester its also easy to dislocate a joint so becareful and do things slowly. You don't want to hurt your back.
Thanks guys. You all were a big help. :-)
Just FYI My mom had a miscarriage at around 20 weeks due to lifting a railroad tie. She had been feeling fine all day long and helped my dad move that and went inside and started bleeding right away.. So I agree as far as if you did it prior to pregnancy then it should be fine but I wouldnt do any of the heavy moving stuff from the house like beds or dressers or big furniture. Hopefully you can find someone to help you guys move because that would be best. But you can always just call your dr office and ask them just to be certain.
I'm 29 weeks and i can lift up to 25lbs.
i had talked to my Dr about lifting and she said its more into the 3rd trimester that you have to be more cautious about... im assuming because your center of balance will be off as you have a giant tummy in the way so you cant lift properly? but ya if your used to lifting that much prior then i agree your probably okay doing it now as long as your lifting properly.... and as far as the ice goes i wouldnt fill the pails all the way and just make moer trips...thats what i have been doing here to fill my daughters pool with water and when taking pails of oats for the cattle... and im 36 weeks... But anyway take your time, know your limit, and think about how your lifting... dont twist your body when lifting and use your legs... just be careful :)
If you lifted the ice buckets and mop bucket prior to getting pregnant you can lift it during your pregnancy. You can lift the same amount as you did prior to becoming pregnant. Just don't try to lift more than you normally did!
I believe its nothing over 20lbs. That's. What my dr says.
YES i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE SAME THING.
