You are not going to catch anything from kittens unless you eat fecal matter. The parvo that cats carry is not the same strain that humans get. I've worked with animals for 17 years. The poor things probably had distemper. Usually if they have parvo they just die without much symptoms and its not that common.
We took the kittens back, unfortunately they both died. But then they tell us that they were both sick when they gave them to me. I was down right furious! They knew I was pregnant and didnt even tell us!! Some people, i swear!!!
As long as you have been cautious and wash good after handling them you should be just fine. I hope they make it. Keep us posted.
They smelll reallly bad, ones not even eating, and hasnt been since we got it 2 days ago, it acts rele weird and is having trouble breathing, now the other one is starting to act funny too... They are pooping cuz its all over their cage, I refuse to go near it so my roommate does that part... We are taking them back tomorrow, cuz we dont want them to die, but I also am getting scared they will get me sick ..
Oh, and humans can not get parvo.
Hand fed kitten have to have help going to the bathroom. It is very possible that they are extremely compacted. What type of formula are they being fed? Liquid kitten formula bought in the cans have always constipated kittens that have come through my home. The best thing to use is the powder kitten formula mixed up with non flavored pedialite. And yes, it is possible for cats to get parvo but it is extremely rare as the mutation in the virus is fairly new. Parvo very distinctive though as it has very strong odor and there is alot of vomiting and diarrhea involved. I doubt this is what they have. I would say the problem is in what they are being fed. I've been in animal rescue for 14 years and have only seen one case of cat parvo. I would take the kittens to a vet clinic and explain the situation to them. Sometimes they will take them in and find homes for them when the time comes. Hope this helps. Just remember to wash well after handling them. Good luck!
Actually, there is a feline parvo desease called panlueki something or other.. So yes cats can get it, I worked at a pet store for quite a while, my only question is will it hurt my baby?? Thats the only thing I dont know..
