home remedy???

I'm so sick of coughing and hacking to no end! The cough syrup I'm using isn't working, nor are the cough drops, chloraseptic spray, gargling salt water, vicks vapor rub....ect ect.  Any of you ladies know of a home remedy to get rid of a cough? My ribs and my belly feel like they're about to split! Plus I can't sleep.  -_-

My mom is from the islands and if she even thinks we're getting sick she makes this drink.

She boils shredded fresh ginger,  lemons, apple cider, cinnamon and nutmeg.  You can add some oranges too if you want. Once its heated you can strain it or leave it as is since ginger is supposed yo be really healthy for you. Add honey to your drink to sweeten it and sooth your throat. It usually cleared up my colds in a few days. Drinking it twice a day

One thing that works wonders is boiling 1 tea bag and lemon drops, or half a lemon. Bring it to a boil and breathe in the vapors. do this for at least 3 min. do it every few hours with fresh tea and lemons. hope u feel better!

Hi Steci,, I am new to this forum so I am not sure of all the tricks, and therefore don't know where you live but have you thought of getting tested for Pertussis (whooping cough)? I know in Minnesota we are having record numbers and it is very contagious and dangerous for newborns....just something to think about....sorry you are so miserable!
