babys growth is 4 weeks behind

ok so i went to my 36 week appointment yesterday and my fundal height is only 32 CM with an estimated birth weight of 4.6lbs. all my dates are right because i had an early u/s at 6 weeks due to bleeding if i'm only 32 weeks like they are saying then we wouldn;t have seen anything on the very first u/s but we did we seen hb and all.. i had an u/s at 17 weeks and everything measured right and we found out we're expecting a girl. my fundal height had always been spot on up until 30 weeks when i only measured 29 at 33 weeks it dropped to 28 now at 36 weeks it's only 32. i am really worried and they are sending me for a u/s on Tuesday with an u/s because their machine is only a bedside one and thats what they got the EBW from... anyone else gone thru this? what are the chances my lil girl will be ok with such a low birth weight?. i myself am only a small person.. 5'1 and 97 lbs before pregnancy.. Her HB was all good and her movement is fine

Oh wow, it's been 3 and a half years since i wrote this question, the reason i never replied is because i actually had my daughter on the 12th the day after posting this. She was 4 weeks early and weighed 4lbs 12oz but perfectly healthy in everyway, 3 and a half years later she is the lil monster that every preschooler can be but wouldn't change a thing about her. And all of you have had your lil ones too, hope all is well for you all

I am not convinced that all the regular Drs offices have the best equipment.  I had 2 ultrasounds one at 10 weeks the next one a week later and said i was 12 weeks, i had to go to a specialist becasue there was something wrong with my baby, but with the specialist ultrasound machine they had no doubt I was 14 and a half weeks...that is a big difference!  i know how worried you must be, but hang in there and let us know how it is going.  Good Luck!

It's not a huge deal k? Your far enough along that the baby should be just fine.
my son had IUGR or intra uterine growth retardation. When I went to my U/S at 35w5d it was found that I had no fluid left and my son's growth was still over a month behind.

I was put in for a Stat csection. But seriously, My son was fine in the breathing department. He only needed a little blow by oxygen a couple times and at birth. He came home late (a month) but that was due to issues of him having down syndrome and a hole in his heart.

I hope my experience gives you some reassurance. also. my mom had IUGR with all 3 of my brothers and the youngest was a month early and came home with her.
With my pregnancy I put on a GRAND TOTAL of 13 lbs! I had morning sickness the whole time... but my little guy is doing pretty good!

Im having the same issue with my doctor. He claim I am due Oct 24th, but I had an early u/s showing I was due Oct 14th. My baby was measuring a week and a half behind, so he changed my due date, although im going by my original one. I too am a small built person I am 4'9 and 115 starting weight before I got pregnant.

It could be that baby's growth slowed down, but will pick back up into a normal range. I don't think your baby will have a problem with low birth weight. If she is estimated at 4.6lbs she should reach atleast 6.5lbs by birth. Also ultrasounds are not 100% accurate. She very well could be 1-2lbs heavier than the estimated weight, or even 1-2lbs smaller. Ultrasounds are usually wrong by a pound or 2, atleast in my experiance.

All my babies were estimated small...about 6.5lbs by 38-39 weeks, but once delivered my Children were all over 8lbs.

Just keep your chin up, and stay positive. Im sure your baby girl will be just fine. I will keep you in my prayers, and wish a safe and speedy delivery and recovery.
