already mommies help?

So the wee one is only 6 weeks old come tomorrow, we have made the decision to transition him from breast - bottle completely as after each bottle (5oz for his weight) he is still hungry (even on the hungry baby milk) and when we have topped up with breastfeeding he will stay on for an hour or so, and I know some of that is comfort sucking.    so when he is finished his bottle and wants more we have been trying him with a little more to appease his hunger and he is taking 8oz, at only 6 weeks :s     He was a big boy at birth (21 inches and 9lbs) and I got him weighed and measured yesterday at the health clinic and he was 24 inches and 13lbs 6.5oz.....is that too much?   The woman at the clinic is useless, I asked her if it was too much and she just said he had made a big jump.    He has gained 1lb and 8oz in the last two weeks and I don't want him getting overweight as both me and BD have had weight issues (BD was 21 stone with a 42" waist before I met him, he is now 13st with a 34" waist, I am 5' 10"   14st and a UK s14 (US size 10).    thing is he still looks to feed every 4 hours which would be too much :s    I really don't wanna overfeed him :o     anyone else had this with their babies x

THanks, the woman from the clinic had me worried cause all she would say is that it was a big jump in his weight, even when I asked her if it was too much, and that just freaked me out a lil bit, I know he is only 6 weeks but cause of the length of him, his onsies and vests are now 3-6m cause 0-3 are stretched on him ans pull on his shoulders, although he can still wear his tops and bottoms in 0-3.    He hasn't been too bad today thankfully, 8oz at 3am, 5oz at 7am, 3oz at 1pm, 5oz at 5pm and has had 6oz there and hungry for more so giving him another 2 x

At that young age u dont need to worry abiut over feeding them. Some babies are just chunkiet then others and once thry hit the toddler years and become actuve they start thinning out. Its in those years u have to worrt about weight and making sure they are eating.healthy. If hes hungry and not throwing up what hes eating because hes too full then just keep feeding him. Some mothers breast milk is not as fatty as others so it doesnt fill them up as quickly.

Don't worry about his weight if all he is on is breast or bottle. It's not like he is getting bad fats into his system or an overload of processed sugars. I demand fed my son and he was in the 98% (high end) of the weight gain chart. He is now a happy healthy 6 year old and in the normal weight range for his height and age. Don't stress, just enjoy being mommy!!

Yeah I remenber :)  Aw I don't feel quite so bad now that he is on an 8oz bottle, cause every thing I read said he should be on 4-6oz per feed but he always still hungry after that, he was on 4oz at 2 weeks lol.   I was BF on demand too but it was constant and even at nearly 6 weeks I was getting like a half hour break lol.   I hope so, the woman at the cliniv was like oh thats a lot, and when I asked her of it was too much he brought the wee red book over and showed me on the graph the jump in weight and it worried me cause she wouldn't say anything other than it's a lot.

Yeeh he grew 3 inches and he was already long at birth - he was 21 inches when born and is now 24 inches, so I'm hoping his big jump was part of his growth spurt and it'll kinda peter off after a week or so.     He did sleep for 5 hours last night from 10-after 3, then was up again at 645am x

Remembee i wrote about goin to a weddin soon. Well i bot th hungry baby milk to try on Lucas yesterday to see how he went bcos i had to make sure he wld take it while im not here. He drank th 7oz and wanted more. Iv bn breastfeedin on demand so obv dnt no how much hes getin. Bt its obv alot if he wanted more after 7oz and hes only 4wks. He will take a growth spurt and lose weight. So i wldnt worrt about him gainin weight bcos if hes hungry hes hungry. Lucas feeds every 3hrs and at night he goes 5hrs. X
