housing programs??
is anyone on any housing for pregnant women or know anything about the tanf program or ebt and any programs in Illinois were I can get money for housing and stuff???

Yeah, just use the name of whoever's the lease is in or if it's owned, whoever owns it. Everything you said is all they really need to know, but they will require a note from whoever you're using as well, so don't forget that. I hope everything works out for you and your mini fam:) and you're welcome lol. I've had to do it alone and learned quite a bit through it all
Okay. Thank you so much u been a huge huge help. I'm gonna go next week after my doc appointment so I can get a proof of pregnancy from them and get everything together when I go up to there office. So I'm gonna tell them I'm staying at a friends(if they ask a name should I use a name in the household even tho its all guys? Or) and I'm gonna say I can't stay here much longer unless I strt paying rent and I do chores around the house for some money to eat. and me and my grate still working things out. Anything else I should add??
If they give you the emergency money, it's like a one time deal(that's what my ex hid from me) and I don't think you'd have to take him. For the cash assistance, you'd have to take him once baby is born. I think they're also more strict about it and require you to have a part time job after baby is born as well, but I'm not a hundred percent sure if it's everywhere or just around my area. If they ask how she's related to yo just say she's a family friend and if they ask if dad's in the pic say you two are working on things. They usually don't ask things like that, but some do and it's best to be vague because if something catches their attention, then they'll ask harder questions which may or may not affect whether you get the money or not. They have a month to review your application and contact you with an interview date, usually up to 2wks after,but it never took that long wirh me. If you're eligible for emergency, you can get everything same day. And if it does take some time, they give you the money from when you first applied til the effective date. This time was the longest I had to wait, where I applied mid Nov and got a paper for a phone interview beginning of dec. They sent another paper with the explanation of benefits and it said I would receive a combined total of 528 for nov and dec, half the amt of nov bc I applied later in the month and the full amt of dec. Then in jan it was just the reg amt.

So on tanf for cash assistance I have to take my bf for child support ? Do you know how long it takes to get on tanf... So when they ask for my address and I'm staying at my bfs mom do I give them her address or? If thy ask if my bfs in the picture what should I say ...I mean we just need to get a place together to make this all work and with out any cash assitatiance to help pay rent then we can't make it and we gotta be out of his moms soon . So whatever I gotta say to make this work then that's what ill have to do lol I just am new to all this and wana be prepared when I go to there office and apply!

Food stamps I've been off and on for 4 years. Cash assistance, they said I'd only get $300, but since I had to take my ex for child support(even though he voluntarily gave me 300) I chose not to go through with it because they said if the court ruled for me to get more, I'd still only get the $300 from cash assistance and they'd pocket the child support, so I'd actually lose out. The TANF is newer and I tried once, but my ex hid my paper with the date on it for my interview and I found it months later after he deployed.
I'd just get everything together and when your bfs mom writes the paper, have it state you moved in(pick a date that's only a couple days before going to the office-so if ur going the 10th, have her put u moved in the 7th) and will be responsible for the amt of xx(I'd say between 150-300 is reasonable) as rent at the end of each month to help for bills. Then have her write the xx doesn't include food, which you are responsible to buying and preparing separately from the rest of the household. Have her close it with her number. But this way it looks like since u just moved in u don't owe anything yet, but you're going to soon and if they ask how you've been eating, then you bring up chores for a little food money or just simply say you really don't eat. I've actually said that before and I'm sure they did not believe me bc of how big my baby bump was, but I was literally eating crackers and peanut butter for mos because the person I lived with only bought pop with her stamps then sold the rest.

Oh..and if you're getting cash assistance when baby is born, they make you take the father for child support unless you're married. For food stamps, if his mom writes that you're responsible for you own meals and prepare them separately, you can get that now. If they ask how you're eating if you have no income, tell them you do chores around the house to make a few bucks for food. I think when I got on them, my friend's mom said my 'rent' was 300/mo and I was responsible for my own food. I had no job, so of course they asked how I was making rent and food money and I said I did things around the house and what wouldn't be covered through the chores would be paid back as soon as I got one.
Of he can't afford that himself, you might end up qualifying saying you live with him, but it prlly would be best to say a friend if you're unsure. You'll need a note from his mom saying you live there and she's only providing a roof over your head until baby is born. And you'll need a paper from your doc saying you're pregnant with your estimated due date. If you bring those along with your soc sec card, birth cert, and id, then it'll make the process much faster.
I think ill do that then ill say I'm staying with a friend and not metion him cause he does have a job and hes full time but were in the subburns everything is so exspensive the cheapest one bedroom is 800$ and we can't move out unless I can help pay for whatever I get from tanf. So is that my best bet to say I'm staying with a friend?
You can still get tanif even if you live with him. Living with him will only affect it if he is working and makes to much money. I don't know about your state but in Virginia you won't be accepted till you actually deliver the baby
Id jus sayur temporaly staying with a friend n they are only providing u with a place to stay temporally. Dont mention ur bf at all. If I were u id go for st thing tom u might be able to get emergency assitance due to no income
No I'm not I'm in Illinois.. and the only way my bf can get our place is if I can get on this program to help him pay the rent so he can afford it. And I'm from Utah I just have been staying here in Illinois cause my bf lies here with his mom and we can't stay here much longer..so I need to know what I'm gonna say when I go to there office and try to apply for it?

so if my bfs working then can I quality for tanf?? well I'm just staying at his moms with him and if I can get on tanf then we can afford some kind of apartment cause one bedroom here is 800$ a month and plus having a baby is exspensive! so when I go to the place do I tell them my situation cause technically we don't have our place yet and if I can get tanf I can use the money I get to help pay some sort of rent
Illinois has no housing programs everythings full or closed. For tanf u have to go to the department of family services like ud go for link. u can go to the website for locations. Also wics helpful. They gave me a ton a phone numbers and help. So if ur not on wic already id start there n ask them bout the rest
Check with your social services office. I went a few weeks ago here in NC and they were helpful with finding programs we could use. We are in a weird income bracket that is too much for most services but they were still very helpful. I hope you can find some assistance! I know for the EBT program you have to make very little money. But you should be able to get WIC.
Illinois has a waiting list. They don't accept any more applicants either now. Screws me over at 34 weeks. Our "landlord" didn't pay mortgage and house is being sold. We have near 30 days to find a place and move.
Oh my gosh I've been wondering the SAME thing but for Washington. Although last time I called 411 about housing in my area they told me that basically nobody is helping with housing due to budget cuts :'( and the ones that are have a waiting list at least a year long. But thats just for my state I'm not sure about yours. Try calling your local 411 or 211 and asking about housing. Or look it up in the phonebook. Good luck :)
