will really appreciate your help

My period was due on 20th of October.I got a gush of blood on the night of 23rd October and it was followed by spotting for two more days.I thought it to be implantation bleeding and started noticing pregnancy symptoms like nausea, grumbling in the stomach, period like cramps etc.
Since there was no period like bleeding and I have been TTC for 6 months,my doctor asked me to go for a blood test on 29th of October.
Today, the nurse got back to me saying that my HCG level was 2 on 29th of Oct which means I am not pregnant. The minimum HCG level for being pregnant is supposed to be 5.She asked me to come and see the doctor on 5th of Nov.
There is no sign of bleeding till today.
What can this be?  I thoght hcg can be found in the blood only when we are pregnant.
Did anybody go throgh this? Please, give a detailed answer.

Hopefully, your doctor will be able to tell what's going on on the 5th. It's really frustrating when your body starts playing tricks on you. I know! Good luck on Monday!

Well, from what I've heard, we do have small amounts of HCG even when we're not pregnant. That's why they say it needs to be over 5 to be considered pregnant. Most home pregnancy tests won't even show a + until it reaches at least 25. If your level was 2 nine days after your period was due, your probably not pregnant. Maybe your hormones was just a bit off this month. It happens from time to time.
