interaction w. kids. any advice

hi, i am 37weeks and i recently have had that fear and feeling of not being good w. kids. it really makes me sad and scared especially since my son is coming soon.

children are attracted to me. they like to come up to me even be affectionate. but when it comes to discipline i can lose all control. its like 60% bad 40% good my reaction w. kids. also my niece will be very mean sometimes and shes only two!

i am just venting but i do need some advice. how do  get children to like you but also respect you?

I'm a ftm, but I've had a lot of experience with children in my family and with babysitting and nannying. I think it's important to choose your battles and be predictable. They will respect you if you set rules and boundaries and are consistent in enforcing it. You don't always have to be disciplining. Have fun, and just discipline when they need it.
