6wks 1 day no heartbeat or fetal pole

So I went to the doctor last week for first ultrasound (supp. 6wks 1day); the ultrasound only measured me at 5wks 6 days, which could be accurate considering that between periods for last few months has ranged from 34-36 days. Anyways, they only detected a yolk sac. No fetal heart beat and no fetal pole. I am on progesterone supplements daily (progesterone dropped from 17.6 to 15 in four days) HCG was 1317 and went to 5197 in four days. he said my HCG levels looked fine. I am scheduled for another ultrasound next Thursday (one week later). Just wanted to know if anyone has been through this and how did it turn out?

Im exactly the same, Im due 8th Jan!! I went for my 1st scan yesterday thinking I was nearly 6wks but it showed up at 5wks.  This might well be the case if i ovulated late... On the scan I could only see the yolk sac and the embryo inside!! Doc told me that you usually cant see a heartbeat until 7wks!!

So im looking forward to that, im just nervous as i dont seem to have any pregnancy signs!!

Nice to hear that you got good news!! Helps us women realise that there is hope!!

Best of luck xx

I had a girlfriend who was like 5 weeks and no sign of baby then couple of weeks later she went back and there was the fetus....she was due in june but delivered a baby girl 2 months early....   you and your baby will be fine...... don't stress over it too much it can mess with the babies nervous system.....

At 5w6d we didn't see a heartbeat and at 6w1d we did. This early in pregnancy even a couple of says can make a HUGE difference. I'm now 18 1/2 weeks pregnant with a healthy little girl!

your probably just 5 weeks and 6 days and at that stage thats all you ussually see, at my 6 weeks ultrasound i was measuring 6 weeks 5 days when i was supposed to be 8 weeks from LMP,  but i always ovulate late, so i knew i was about 6 weeks and there was no fetal pole or heartbeat yet. it was probably just to early and you will see everything un your next U/S, dont worry

Good luck

I agree with Nickib85 it is still very early.I measured at 6 weeks with just a yolk sac and then 5 days later had fetal pole and heartbeat.I am now 26 weeks with a little girl.Just try to relax, your numbers look good,I m sure you will have a heartbeat on your next visit.

I don't think that you should worry just yet =) Congrats on the pregnancy! I think that due to some ultrasound equipment being not quite as high tech it is not as easy to see certain things. Wait until your next doctor's appointment to see what is going on and your hCg numbers look great and are doing what they are supposed to =) Good luck!
