Lakesha24-
You are talking about the test they give for DS. It is just blood work from moms arm and some measurements at the anatomy scan. The test that has an increased risk of miscarriage is the amino. I would not risk an amino unless you plan to abort. Their really is no reason. I would never get a amino, too risky for baby. Good luck hope things go fine with the test.
I opted out after my first. I had a bad go the first time where the drs kept telling me to abort and got mad when I said no. I was only 18 year old at the time if I would have been older I would have been smart enough to sue. After that I just said no when they said it was time to test. My first daughter had none of the things they swore she would have. They were pressuring a 18 year old to abort a healthy baby by telling me they knew for a fact that my baby would have a whole list of mental and health problems.
I didn't have it done with my first child but doc recommended it for this child..im kinda nervous cause they said it can be a slight chance of miscarriage
Developmentally challenged is the term ^^^ lol
My husband's brother is mentally retarded (I don't mean that in any for of disrespect) so we did get the test and came up negative. We wanted to be more prepared and take classes on better ways to deal with it so we could be the best parents. That's why we did the test
Idk but i think the procedure is so common medicaid covers ot i believe most insurance companies do. I work w. Special needs kids so i did want to know personally. I had another coworker who wanted to know and she actually took more drastic procedure or i guess more evasive testing that went deeper than just chromosonal checks. That cost her at least $100. Not too much seeing that circumcision is three. But also i read the packet on the testing. I was afraid because unlike the blood test for the tetra test, theyre others where they take fluid from the placenta and that can actually hurt the baby causing effects. I didn't think that was worth it. But i wanted the tetra at least. To each there own.
How much does it cost in usa in generally?
I chose not to test. From your 20 week ultrasound, they actually do some things like a neck measurement that is indicative of down syndrome if that is the case. But I didn't do anything beyond that. I knew that I would love my baby regardless and wanted a peaceful pregnancy. No worries. There are false positives and I didn't want to have that stress when it wouldn't change my decision on having the child. I'd love them regardless. So, no testing for me.
They told the first one it is blood test and ultrasound and the second one is only blood test
It's hard decision. .. they give just 80% i believe. They asked me today if i want to do it and i couldn't answer. They do it between week10 and 14 and some time in 2 trimester (don't remember exactly)
I opted out of that testing by blood work at 13wks because of all the negative issues but I did do the test at my 20wk ultrasound
No. Not everyone does and its not routine. Its an option you have and up to you wether or not you have it. I see no point in it after talking to my Dr. He asked me if I planned on aborting if baby has down syndrome. I said no. I will keep him. Dr said then theres no point in getting tested. That is my personal choice of course.
I think the last day they can see the spinal ridges is 13w6d. I will be 13w3d when the test is done.
Its called the tetra test i know because i kept freaking on my healthcare providers because they kept bumping me back, saying i was too early when i asked for it. They begin around 12 weeks but the jerks (although they were sweet n awesome didnt test me until 21 weeks) then when i got to my new provider they told me lucky i came because it wouldve been too late after 21 weeks. i got the results at 23 weeks. They transfered my blood work.
The limit on that test is 21weeks. I dont they know to much more other than the fact that they may or may not be abnormalities. Usually if so they put you through more testing...
Can you tell how severe the DS is with the test
When will they do this test like early pregnancy or late pregnancy
Im really only doing it to get another ultrasound. I just want to see my babe again.
We opted out on both our kids.
I opted out as well. No matter the outcome it doesn't change my decision.
You can choose not to get it done if you don't want to! It's your choice girl
I opted out. My mother in law and husband's aunt both got false positives.
Yes its routine don't worry
