I live in NH & today I got checked for the first time ... I'm due today lol . They usually won't check you unless your having a lot of contractions or any complications or if you've had a baby before . But I'm at 40 weeks and my cervix is soft , hopefully I'll be holding my little man within this week . Congrats btw , best of luck !

They put fingers inside you and feel to see if they can fit a finger in the cervix and see how far along you are. Drs dont like to check at every appt, at least mine doesnt. He days the less he can play around in thete the better. My last appt he did stretch my cervix in hope to get something going but so far nothing expect my plug came out today. Sometimes if the dr checks you it can start the process but at 37weeks i would definately ask if he can do a pelvic exam. My dr does it every two weeks....hopefully i have the baby before then though lol good luck! And ask for pelvic exam next appt :)

If you live in the UK they don't check you here unless there is a concern. I'm not sure about other countries.
