I went into labor this time at 26 weeks. They gave me a shot immediately to stop the contractions, magnesium drip for 36 hours and nifedipine every 6 hours since, recently spread out to every 8 hours. But I have now made it to 35 weeks and am going off the nifedipine. I had bleeding too and they never could find where it was coming from but it stopped and baby is perfectly fine. My last was born at 35 weeks and he was perfect and came home with us.
I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks, but i didnt relize it, my water broke but i thought i was just peeing myself, it wasnt a gush just a continous leak. i thought this for 24 hours. but thanks to my hubby and the wonderful ladies here on MH, i relized i was in preterm labor, the docs said if i had waited a few more hours my baby wouldnt have survived. it ended with an emergency C section and my baby had a 2 1/2 week nicu stay. This was 5 months ago, now my lil bean is a sweet healthy 5 month old baby. The peditrition thinks there will be no develomental delays.
They say if your water breaks, labor can happen anywhere from a couple hours to 2 weeks depending... THey would have you in hospital though and treating you like everyone has said with antibotics to avoid infection... Hopefully your doctor may be able to do something to check your fluid levels tomorrow...
Our situations are quite different but since you are just looking for stories.. I was admitted to the hospital at 31 weeks due to premature shortening of my cervix... It was measuring between 1.7cm-1.9cm but was still closed at the time.. I stayed in the hospital for 9 days being monitored.. I was having anywhere from 26-30 contractions a day but not regular so they never did anything to stop them as we could not tell if they were contractions that were causing change or like contractions that were not doing anything.. As clearly i had cervical change without having many contractions because before i was admitted a bad day would be 3-5 contractions in a day... some of the contractions in the hospital were like 30 seconds but i was also having some pretty intense ones that lasted up to 2 mins... they did another scan after a week to measure my cervix to determine if i could go home on bedrest... at this point, I was having like 15-20 contractions a day.... but the scan showed little to no change, still closed measuring between 1.6-1.8cm... So they let me go home...
Im now 34 weeks and a half holding strong.. at my prenatal at 33 weeks, she said my cervix still have some length to it (though she couldnt get an exact measurement since it was physical).. it is softening but still closed... im hoping to hold out until 36 weeks at least.. now i have maybe 5-10 contractions a day but most days are closer to 5...
I go back on Tuesday next to see where I stand... at this point, my doctor will not stop my labor though so I just hope that nature is on my side..
Hopefully they can solve if your water is leaking or if your fluid levels are low, if its still intact and normal then you never know you could hold out for several weeks..
I was leaking fluid for four days before dr could confirm it. I was induced and delivered my baby girl at 35 weeks 1 day. She was discharged from the NICU 12 hours after I was discharged and has no developmental delays or anything. It is scary when you leak fluid and they can't confirm it. Hopefully all is well good luck
my water broke prematurely last year at 31 weeks....i was admitted to the hosp as soon as their swab test was pos confirming rupture of my water bag.....i was able to keep my daughter in 3 more days until my labor started and they could not stop it
the nurses there told me they had ladies go 2 weeks but you have to be admitted and on constant antibiotics if your water did indeed break because there is a huge risk of infectioin which is not good
I have heard stories of a water bag breaking and then closing back up. I know two women that happened to they both delivered between 32 and 35 weeks. Also even if your water is broken and the bag doesn't seal back up they can treat you with antibiotics to keep the baby safe from any infection.
My preterm labor history is that I went into labor at 20 weeks with my son and after several more trips to the hospital and strict bedrest/medication I was able to carry him to 37 weeks. With my daughter it started at 24 weeks and once again with several trips to the hospital including a few overnight stays I was able to carry her to 35 weeks. I was dialated with both kids for months before I ended up going into active labor.
There are amazing medications and treatments available for treating preterm labor. Even if you only make it a few more weeks you should be in good shape. good luck!
