opinions on announcing the birth over fb?

What is your guys opinion on using Facebook to announce your child has been born....to everyone? Not just as a friendly notice to friends and distant relatives, but not bothering to call anyone. Even your parents or siblings.

My fiance's brothers wife was induced today and that much they told. Everyone a couple days ago but they didn't bother to call anyone to let them know he was born and everything was OK. They waited until about 7 hours later and announced it on Facebook. Now, when they announced the induction they respectfully asked that everyone wait to visit until the next day...that I understand but if you don't want to see people the least you could do is let them know all is well.

Sorry to vent this just kind of upset myself and my fiance because we were told we would be informed right away and as the process went along and his brother never bothered. To contact us to let us know our new nephew had arrived he just posted a mass status about it HOURS later.

I think they def should have informed close family and friends before posting on fb. I would be upset about that too.

It's their kid and they have the right to do what they want. However I personally wouldnt do it. My family means everything to me and I wouldnt be able to not tell them. It's funny cause a friend of ours just had their baby today and we found out on fb and I am not going to lie I was a lil offended cause we got pregnant around the same time only a week apart and we are really close so I know how I feel :/

Thank you ladies. The other place I posted this basically everyone told me we had no right to be upset. I understand its their child their life etc but when you tell people that you will keep them informed and then don't...I think they have a right to ne a little miffed. And I ran, not even your parents? Come on now, at least tell them so they can keep ur siblings up to date.
