mental illness and children

I suffer from a range of mental illnesses. I was wondering if anyone else that has any worries about passing them on to your children?

Mental illness skips the men in my family. Myself, my mother, my grandmother, and my great grandmother all suffered from depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. Up until I found out I was pregnant I was debating on whether or not I would ever want kids because the risk posed to them. Now that I am pregnant I'm extremely excited. Even if my baby gets ill in the future, who better to handle it than me! Takes one to know one I guess, ha. I'm sure everything will be fine.

My mom suffered from depression and I got it. Neither of my parents have anxiety or are bipolar,  so don't know who I got those from.  Its something I worry about that though.  Dad has no mental illnesses.

They say most mental illnesses come from the fathers side. My mom only had depression but I got 3 of the 5 things my dad has.
