I did some more checking. Looks like ckeansers or toners with less than 2% salicylic acid are safe. Of you're breaking out as bad as I was and are concerned, ask your doctor first, but it looks like most store bought cleansers are not a problem.

I've used acne face wash with 2% salicylic acid since my 2nd trimester. No daily but every couple days. My doctor never mentioned it. I just looked up some info on it and it looks like the only studies done were on low dose acetylsalicylic acid, which didn't have any adverse effects. So with the minimal amount absorbed through the skin from an cleanser I am going to just pray everything is alright. I'll definitely avoid it next time!

Ill be 24 weeks tomorrow and still getting this problem.. I used to get a few pimples every now and then before I was pregnant but since I have been pregnant my skin has been horrible.. I get them all around my chin and cheeks and also on my chest and back.. It *****.. My doctor said it's because of all the hormones raging around my body, some people suffer with it and others get perfect clear glowing skin.. Guess were the not so lucky ones haha..

Oh trust me I totally understand! I feel like I freak myself out more than most people because of my profession. I am constantly flashing back to nursing school and thinking of all the weird/ freak things I've learned about and as hard as I try to not stress myself out it doesn't work lol

You're welcome! I'm a nurse so I thoroughly research all my meds and had to stop using my normal face wash when I got pregnant because it had salicylic acid in it. Its unknown how much of the medication is absorbed by the skin and makes it into the bloodstream which is why most drs caution against it. There have been no proven risks, its just one of those things that there isn't enough research on to prove that there are minimal/no risks.

Benzyl peroxide is also another big no no during pregnancy

Its being absorbed by the skin though, you can double check with your Dr but I've always read no salycilic acid so no acne washes

Why cant you use acne washes ? Almost all of them contain small amounts of salicylic acid . I've only heard you cant take acne medication . Face wash should be safe . That's not being absorbed in your bloodstream .

The old wives tale also says that means you'll have a girl, since they steal your beauty ;-)

Not too much advice to give except that you cannot use creams or washes with salycilic acid while pregnant. Its very common due to all the hormones and usually clears up later in the pregnancy.
