newborn help!

I'm formula feeding 3-4 hours but at Dr today they said every 2-3 hours instead so I feed her at her appointment at 2pm, and she ate a decent amount. And before that she ate pretty good at 12. So I truest feeding at 4 no luck, but I also am using s diff brand of formula cuz the stuff I got from hospital ran out. Tried to feed at 6 no luck.. its been 4 hours and now I'm stressing myself out how do I get her to eat? Could it be the formula??

I know your dr said she should eat every 2-3 hrs but if what your doing seems to be working and she is gaining weight good I wouldn't change how and when you are feeding her...you are the one with your baby everyday and know her schedule. Have confidence in yourself, your doing great! :)

Yes sadly those darn hormones don't go away right away after baby lol and my son lost a little weight too at the hospital and gained it right back. Your little darling sounds perfect and healthy :)

Lisa you're right cuz after an hour she got fussy and ate good again. She lost a lil bit weight while we were still in the hospital went from 4lb 8.3oz to 2oz but they said that was normal. And today at her appt she's back to 5oz so she is gaining.. thanks so much for the encouragement makes me feel better bout myself (: I blame the hormones making me feel so blah hah

Thank you ladies I'm a ftm. She's a premmie as well so maybe that's the problem.. since I fed her back to back now she's too full to eat now. It just made me feel like a bad mom I couldn't get my baby girl to eat! She's usually very good at eating she doesn't even spit up. It just freaked me out cuz this is the first time she's done this since i had her Friday

My neice was a premie so her moms breastmilk had to be subsituted for formula (I guess she wasn't getting enough nourisment). The doctor said she should be having 3-4 full bottles a day but they were fortunate to get more then one in her. She was tiny for her age and didn't grow as fast as the doctors would have liked but she is now a very healthy 2 year old. I think the point is that baby will eat when they are hungry. If you are concerned ask your doctor for any advice. I hope this helps. Try not to stress, your baby will not starve themself.

She might not be hungry right now...I wouldn't be too concerned. Maybe in another hour try again and if she still doesn't take it I would wait until she starts fussing. My son had days where he ate every 2 hrs and than the next day he ate every 4 hrs...but most of the time he ate every 3-4 hrs.
