The best way to deliver a healthy baby is to wait until baby is ready,  and using castor oil isn't par of that ;-)

I used it for my 1st born no problems at all.I was going to use it for my second but my water broke. I know 2 other ppl that have used it on multiple pregnancies no problems either its better too ur less likely to poop while pushing.

It's honestly up to you and your doctor.  If s/he feels comfortable with it then go for it.  The castor oil debate is just as varied as a lot of others.
Just do what your doctor tells you to.

If the baby swallows its own meconium in the womb, it could stop him from breathing. That's too big a risk to take.

Talk to your doctor about it before usin it. Im on the fence with its use. Ive heard both good and bad things about it.

i somewhat disagree..... i spoke with my CNM and doula and they both said the risks really arent that bad..... it is considered a laxitive so it may (or may not) give u the runs... as for dehydration.... you prevent dehydration which is usually caused by the runs but can be prevented by staying hydrated (drink lots of water) as far as baby having bm... by u being overdue theres chances are high that baby has already done this... some babies can pass meconium as early as 38 weeks so theres no real evidence that the castor oil really causes it.... i say personally speak to your dr and get his/her opinion and go by that

Castor oil only works to induce labor because it dehydrates you, which is very bad. And as factorymomma said, it can cause your baby to poop in the womb. It's not worth the risk at all.

No.  the risks FAR outweigh the benefits.  It can cause meconium stain (when baby passes stool before birth) and it can be HIGHLY dangerous to your baby.
