I didn't show a fetus until after 6 weeks and even then they didn't see the heart beat until I was about 8 weeks.  I'm now 38 weeks with my first baby. I would wait  a week or so and then have another US if they will let you.

i agree: too early to see a fetus. i had an u/s at just over 5 weeks and they didn't see a fetus, just a gestational sac. at 8 weeks they saw it all, including a heartbeat. try to relax and not worry too much -- chances are your baby is just fine!

Still very very early.  I didn't see a fetus until a little over 6 weeks.  Hang in there.

There is hope. Though its possible you may be experiencing a blighted ovum, its also possible that its way too earlh to tell. It is very common to only see a sac at 5 weeks. By 6-7 weeks you would expect to see the fetal pole and maybe the heartbeat. By 8 weeks you would expect to see it all.
I dont think doctors can diagnose a blighted ovum until after 8 weeks bcuz of this but some will throw the term around. Your hcg test will give a better idea until your next ultrasound. You would expect the number to double over 48 hrs in a viable pregnancy. But keep in mind depending on what the first draw is it could be longer.
Less than 600- 48 hours
600-1200- 48-72 hours
more than 1200- 96 hrs or more

there is still hope. See what your hcg says and your next us says. I would not make any decision until at least 2 weeks from now as it can make a huge difference. I hope this helps
