What when I went in to have my first baby they brought me a lot of food right before they induced me. O.o idk it seems like you would poop even if you hadn't eaten .:))

They told me to eat a good breakfast before I went to the hospital bc they wouldn't feed me, but then they gave me lunch lol. My midwife says its fine, but they usually don't want you to in case you need a c section.

It has nothing to do with pooping yourself. Chances are you will have a bowel movement when straining. Its common.
But due to risk of complications your unaloud to eat until after labor. As clysta stated.

It depends on where you live or what hospital you're in. A lot of times it's because if you get an emergency c-section for whatever reason, they don't want to risk asphyxia.
