How accurate is an OPK?

I started using an OPK this month and I'm not really sure it works. I'm using the Answer 20 stick pack. Anyhow 3 days after my period it only had the one control line then on the fourth day the second line appeared, but it was very faint. It was only slightly darker over the next few days, but according to the instructions with the package the test line has to be as dark as the control line or there was no lh surge.

Yesterday I had cramping on one side, a temp spike, and increased egg white cm for three days. I was exactly 14 days into my cycle.

Still the test did not indicate an lh surge. Is there a possibility that the test is just inaccurate? I'm wondering what your experiences have been.

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm going to use up the rest of the pack this month and if we have to try again next month I'm going to switch to the digital. It may be more expensive, but I'm pulling my hair out and straining my eyes from staring so hard at those stupid little sticks! Oh yeah and I keep peeing on my hand lol. Thus far I am not a fan of the answer opk.

I used the Answer OPK the first few months that I was tracking my cycle, (and I used them straight through...all 20 in one cycle) and I never got a positive, or anything even close to a positive.   2 months ago I decided to spend the money and get the ClearBlue Easy Digital, and I've gotten positives the past two months. So...I don't know if its true for everyone, but I had no luck with Answer, plus I went on the consumer ratings, and they got the absolute lowest score!
